Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how 1001744253 Ontario Inc., operating as Peek 2.1™ ("Peek", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects information when you use the Peek mobile app and website (together, the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information as described here.
1. Information We Collect
Account and Profile Information
When you create an account, we collect your email address, password (stored in hashed form only — we never store your plaintext password), date of birth, gender and preferences, and any profile details you choose to add, such as a bio and photos.
Verification Information
To help keep the community authentic, we may ask you to upload a photo of a government-issued ID or a live selfie for verification purposes. This is used solely to confirm you are a real person and is reviewed by our moderation team; it is not shared with other users.
Location Information
With your permission, we collect your device's location to power features like showing you nearby members and detecting your city for local pricing and event recommendations. You can control location permissions through your device settings at any time.
Messages and Communications
We store the content of direct messages and chat conversations you send through the Service so that conversations persist across sessions and devices. Our moderation team may review message content that is reported to us for safety and policy-enforcement purposes.
Voice and Video Calls
If you use in-app voice or video calling, your audio/video stream is transmitted in real time through our calling infrastructure to connect you with the other participant. We do not record or store the contents of calls.
GroupUp Events
If you host or attend a GroupUp event, information such as your display name, RSVP status, and any comments you post are shared with our events partner, CrowdSurge, which operates the event pages and manages attendee coordination on our behalf. GroupUp events are private to invited attendees and are not publicly indexed or discoverable.
Payment and Subscription Information
If you purchase a subscription, payment is processed by Stripe, Apple (App Store), or Google (Google Play), depending on how you subscribe. We do not receive or store your full card number. We do receive confirmation of your purchase, the subscription tier and billing cycle you selected, and payment status, which we use to activate and manage your subscription.
Cookies and Similar Technologies
Our website uses cookies to remember your preferences and measure site performance. You control which categories of cookies (performance, analytics, marketing) are enabled through the cookie settings banner shown when you first visit, and you can change your choice at any time. We also use Google Analytics to understand aggregate site usage.
Device and Technical Information
We collect standard technical information such as your IP address, device type, operating system, and app version, along with a push-notification token (via Firebase) if you enable notifications.

3. How We Share Your Information
We share information only as needed to operate the Service:
- Other users see the profile information you choose to make visible (photos, bio, and activity relevant to matching).

We do not sell your personal information.
4. Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active. If you sign up for our waitlist but never confirm your email, that entry is automatically deleted after 30 days. If you delete your account, we remove or anonymize your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain certain records (such as transaction records) for legal or accounting purposes.

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

- Correct inaccurate information
- Request deletion of your account and associated data
- Withdraw consent for optional data uses, such as marketing cookies or location access
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below. You can also manage most of this directly within the app's account settings.
6. Children's Privacy
